biography.

Lengualerta is a solo project focused on social transformation through music and the spoken word. It began in 2006 in the city of Tijuana and has since traveled through much of Mexico, Latin America, and Europe, carrying a critical yet constructive message that seeks to give rebellion a festive meaning and to invite a reorientation of our gaze toward our shared essence as humanity. Its sound moves along a reggae/dub foundation, while always leaving the door open to fusion with other genres.

Over the past two decades, the project has toured extensively across Europe and Latin America, performing at major international festivals in Norway, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Cuba, Guatemala, Colombia, Argentina, and Mexico. Highlights include appearances at Vive LatinoKarneval der Kulturen (Berlin)Fusion FestivalMighty Sounds Festival, and the International Dub Gathering, as well as recurring invitations to Ometeotl Festival in Mexico.

The project has also collaborated live with influential acts such as Bungalodub and Illbilly Hitec, reinforcing its strong presence within the global reggae, dub, and socially conscious music scenes.

Over nearly two decades, Lengualerta has performed in more than 20 countries and has shared the stage with artists such as Manu Chao, Sargento García, Aterciopelados, Fermín Muguruza, and Mungo’s Hi Fi.

His two albums — Resonante and Aurora — were awarded by the IMAS as “Best Rap/Hip Hop Album of 2010” and “Best Reggae/Ska Album of 2014”, respectively.

Since 2011, he has collaborated with Roco Pachukote (Maldita Vecindad) and Rubén Albarrán (Café Tacvba) in various multidisciplinary collectives, with the aim of amplifying the voices of different social struggles in defense of the land and its natural elements.
